Volunteer Opportunities

What is the value of volunteering?

  • Volunteers are ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
  • Volunteering is about giving, contributing, and helping other individuals and the community at large. It is working with others to contribute to a better community.
  • Volunteers create a vibrant civil society, dynamic, engaged, and self reliant.
  • Volunteering is giving, not taking, contributing, not counting.Eve Datisman working on Past Perfect

Volunteers are the life blood of the North Olympic History Center. Members of the Board of Directors, also volunteers, are charged with raising funds to operate the day-to-day affairs of the Society's museum and research library, while volunteer staff carry out the tasks that keep the whole organization running smoothly under the guidance of the Executive Director.

By joining our team, you become part of a unique group of dedicated individuals who can be found in the Archives Storage Facility and in the Research Library, lending their special talents where needed to preserve and share North Olympic Peninsula history with the community.

If you have any interest and can help us in the following areas, we need YOU!

  • Special event volunteers assist in special programs.
  • Fundraising volunteers organize, coordinate, attend, and manage fundraising efforts.
  • Collection volunteers assist in cataloging at the archives and with research where needed.
  • Grant-writing volunteers
  • Data-input volunteers enter the collections into our database.
  • Groundskeeper volunteers assist in outside maintenance on our campus.
  • Interior maintenance volunteers with electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, or other similar skills

To tell us more about your interests, please fill out the application and return it to: NOHC, P.O.Box 1327, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
